Community Outreach in Sexual Health
Outreach is a key element of Spectrum’s sexual health provision and is one of the key ways we engage with vulnerable populations – including young people, teenage parents, the LGBTQ+ community and other groups.
- In 2019, Spectrum created an Outreach project which supported over 40 sex workers to access contraception and rapid-testing for STIs, including HIV. This project was created to bridge a gap in care, as we realized that sex workers were wary of coming into clinic and were at high-risk of potential infections or unexpected pregnancies
- This project won the “Patient Safety in the Community” Award in 2019 and was commended for improving support for marginalised groups
